RMIT University, Australia, COVID-19 Update: Financial support for students!!

Financial Support To help the students from COVID-19 situation, RMIT has expanded the existing Student Hardship Assistance fund and Equity Scholarship fund to provide up to $10 million in immediate, additional support for students impacted by COVID-19.

Two types of financial assistance are now available:

Emergency Financial Grant: to help students impacted by job loss, housing insecurity or other financial matters associated with COVID-19. This is for non-tech expenses, like essential living costs, textbooks, accommodation, healthcare, or food.

Technology Grant: to help students access essential equipment and continue studying remotely, including hardware, software, subscriptions, data and digital materials.

Applications are open for international students currently enrolled in Higher Education coursework, Higher Degree by Research, Vocational Education, VCE and Foundation Studies.

Other Services: RMIT is continuing to assist their students in other ways too.

They have been supporting the repatriation of students who require assistance to return home from overseas, they have extended the census date and fee payment date where possible, they have been refunding pre-paid parking and they have waived all existing Library fees and fines.

The existing support services are continuing to operate remotely and specific COVID-19 health and wellbeing support is available to help each member of community navigate through this.

They are also reallocating Student Services Amenity Fees (SSAF) to areas that need it most, for example, one-on-one student services including counselling and welfare support. They continue to work closely with the RMIT University Student Union (RUSU) on the things that matter, because now more than ever, these remotely delivered services are critically important for the student community.

This is an incredibly difficult situation and everyone is experiencing it differently.  Take care of yourselves and each other.
